DO YOU WANT TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF STORAGE SPACE ON YOUR COMPUTER? - If you do, then allow us to install a new hard drive for you.  Installing a new hard drive (or a secondary drive) is really easy providing you know what you are doing.  However, if you do not set the 'jumpers' correctly on the new drive you may find that it does not work properly and possibly your existing hard drive will become unresponsive.  Let us carry out the installation for you for a very reasonable price.  To find out how much we charge to install a new hard drive visit out 'Price List' page.  You may also be interested in out 'Hard Drive Data Transfer' service.

HOW DOES THE HARD DRIVE INSTALLATION SERVICE WORK? - This service is really very simple, the process works as follows:

  • You purchase a hard drive from one of the companies listed on our 'Buy Computer Parts' page.
  • Once you have received your new hard drive, contact us to make an appointment for the drive to be fitted.  Follow the instructions on the 'Price List' page for information on how to make an appointment.
  • When you make your appointment, you must specify whether:
    - We are to swap your existing drive for the new drive (a straight forward swap where you can then carry out a fresh installation of your operating system).
    - We are to install the new drive as a secondary drive (increasing the overall storage capacity of your computer).
  • Bring your computer and your new hard drive to us (also please bring your 'desktop power cable and keyboard' / 'laptop power adapter' so we can check the drive is working properly).

Remember the Hard Drive Installation service only swaps your existing drive for a new hard drive, or installs a new hard drive as a secondary drive.  We do offer a 'Hard Drive Data Transfer' service for customers who wish to have all of their existing software, data and hardware settings copied over to a new hard drive.

WHY DO I HAVE TO OBTAIN THE NEW HARD DRIVE? - We operate in a way that is different to most computer repair companies.  Most computer repair companies keep parts in stock, which gives them much more expensive overheads which in turn keeps their prices high.  We do not keep parts in stock, therefore we can keep prices really low - saving you money!  We give you access to a number of computer parts suppliers on our 'Buy Computer Parts' page - simply identify the make / model of your existing hard drive and search for a replacement using the website of one or more of the retailers we advertise.  If you are not sure how to find the details of your existing hard drive, click .  If you have any problems trying to obtain the correct hard drive for your computer then please contact us.

IS YOUR HARD DRIVE MAKING STRANGE NOISES? - If it is, then you may be in need of a new hard drive.  Identify the make of your existing hard drive (If you are not sure how to do this click ) and listen to the relevant sound files for your drives manufacturer below.  If you hear a sound that is similar to the noise that your hard drive makes, you should obtain a new drive as soon as possible.  If you ignore the strange noises you may find that one day very soon your hard drive will fail completely, which will result in the loss of all data on your hard drive!
